Third Largest Oil & Gas Producing Region in CA

Ben Oakley, EconAlliance Board Member and Energy Initiative Co-lead, and Western States Petroleum Association’s Senior Manager for State and Coastal Issues, has provided EconAlliance with a new report by the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC): Oil and Gas in California: The Industry, Its Economic Contribution and Major User Industries in 2022. As the third largest oil and natural gas producing region in the state, the Central Coast makes a significant impact on California’s oil and gas industry. In addition to the statewide information highlighted below, the LAEDC reports that in the Coastal Region, the oil and gas industry provides:

• 6,330 direct jobs
• $10.5 billion in total economic contribution
• $2 billion in state and local tax revenue
• $2 billion in wages and benefits to local workers
